At the exit of the small village of Chaumard, located in the Morvan Natural Park overlooking the lac de Pannecière, the Château de Chaumard welcomes you. The spacious grounds contain a large variety of trees. Well-tended lawns, lined with rose bushes, give the château its special charm. Low stone walls together with shrubs and flowering perennials divide the grounds into different garden spaces. Three small ponds complete the picture. There are various seating areas outside for our guests with a unique views over the lake and the hills around it for the two adjoining gîtes and a large brick barbecue, which is often used for the table d’hôtes.
We offer eight rooms in the Chateau and two apartments in the annex. The rooms are spacious, and romantically furnished by the host himself. You will have a view of the park or the lac de Pannecière. All rooms have adjoining private bathrooms with toilets and shower or bath. The rooms can accommodate two or three people. The beds are either 160 and 140 cm wide.
In the annexe you will find the reception of Le Chateau and the breakfast and dining room. This is where your host Eric Vaissettes also serves his Table d’Hôtes. Weather permitting, the Table d’Hôtes can be moved outside for a dinner in the park. Often the large brick barbecue will be used. If it is cold or raining, Le Chateau will light its wood stove in the cosy dining room.
Tables d’hôtes can be booked 24 hours in advance. We offer home cooking and popular local products, including pieces of meat, poultry and game on a spit. It is also possible to order vegetarian dishes.
Le Chateau is an ideal starting point for sports: hiking, swimming, biking, quad biking, motorcycling, and for visits to natural sites, castles and museums in the area.
We welcome groups; it is possible to book half board: breakfast and dinner.
